Rhinoplasty Recovery
There are several different approaches to rhinoplasty, but all are usually done as an outpatient surgical procedure. Depending on your case, Dr. Ghazizadeh may take either an open or closed (endonasal) approach to achieve the desired result. The objective during surgery is to refine the shape of the nose while optimizing the internal structure for breathing.
The recovery processes after a rhinoplasty surgery can take longer than other facial plastic surgery procedures. This is a known and expected part of the natural healing process after nasal surgery. Patients can expect healing and swelling to gradually improve in phases.
It almost always takes 1 full year for final results to be appreciated and the nose to become fully refined and healed after rhinoplasty. Even before your surgery you will be scheduled for periodic follow-up appointments with Dr. Ghazizadeh to monitor your progress and results.
Once your surgery is finished, you’ll be briefly moved to a recovery area for monitoring before being released to recover at home. You can expect your nose and the surrounding area to be swollen, bruised, and sore for a few days. Ice packs and prescription medication can assist with these effects.
